My husband...The kids were young and I was frazzled. My husband and kids took on creating a lovely relaxed Valentine's Day dinner. I was sent to our bedroom to read and relax. Shortly after I settled in to read, the children arrived. One painstakingly carried a glass of white wine and the other carried a small bowl of nuts and chocolate. They both set the items down on the bedside table giggling all of the while, bowed and left.

A bit later, they called me to dinner. The table was set with a lovely tablecloth and lit candles. Hubby seated me and we dined. Our children took over as wait staff/dj's. We were served Avocado halves filled with shrimp salad as appetizer, main course was a variety of cold-cuts, crudite, and cheese plate with baguette. Last came coffee and chocolate truffles. Hubby assisted the kids in pouring wine during the meal and coffee at end of dinner. They had been fed early and took themselves off to bed afterwards.

If I recall, they were in either 1st and 2nd grade or 2nd and 3rd grade at the time. And it has pretty much become an annual tradition.Lilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13680968217522258788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3019911968480238618.post-7330632651431556622011-02-05T21:46:23.739-05:002011-02-05T21:46:23.739-05:00Ah, all you ladies with Valentine's Day men ar...Ah, all you ladies with Valentine's Day men are lucky. My man DOES NOT recognize the day in ANY way.

My most memorable Valentine was a total dorkasuaraus who pursued me relentlessly throughout 12th grade...waited to drive me home after classes, brought me treats between classes, just, yeah, weird and a tight cross between sweet and stalkerish...and I liked him but I didn't LIKE him. Ignored his attempts all summer, went away to college, was lonely, homesick, and maybe even missed my stalker/admirer and months later got this AMAZING HUGE crystal bowl of flowers...from him. Sniff. I was just...touched beyond belief that I'd been a total beotch by times and he still remembered me and wanted to make the day special...

(side note, same dude sent flowers when my 1st child was born and that was just...weird...side note #2, although Mr. Lainey sucks at Valentine's Day, he always rocks our wedding anniversary...21 years and counting)Laineyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07432968757328745937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3019911968480238618.post-68321084886559870812011-02-05T16:35:31.119-05:002011-02-05T16:35:31.119-05:00My hubby gets me flowers every year. Usually it's something different because he's never sure what I like and don't like! hahaha I love spending time with him and our boys on Valentine's Day, then sneaking off with him to have a quiet dinner to ourselves!

meredithfl at gmail dot comMeredithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14235068897418646736noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3019911968480238618.post-68589320103254892082011-02-05T16:28:10.030-05:002011-02-05T16:28:10.030-05:00Boy is MY story different from these others! lol I...Boy is MY story different from these others! lol I've yanked myself out of the dating pool and refuse to even dip my foot in the shallow end. He bought me a HUGE teddy bear that I could snuggle with after he got up in the mornings. It was so sweet.
Now that we are back on a similar schedule the teddy bear sits in the living room, but I still snuggle with it sometimes when he isn't around.Coryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09577996840747125362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3019911968480238618.post-42612381790130627932011-02-05T10:04:42.560-05:002011-02-05T10:04:42.560-05:00My hubby once brought me something I thought was s...My hubby once brought me something I thought was so thoughtful. My birthday is February 17 so he combined the two days and got me something special. He went nad had a single rose dyed black for me because I love black flowers, I know I'm strange. lol With it he gave me a Black Hills Gold ring in the shape of a heart. The heart's center was hollow and inside it was a heart shaped piece of black onyx, which is my favorite stone.

He got two of my favorites for me.Mary Kirklandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04991095291522043588noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3019911968480238618.post-43231593817318120962011-02-05T09:28:05.455-05:002011-02-05T09:28:05.455-05:00My story is actually fairly similar to Faith's...My story is actually fairly similar to Faith's. All of my relationships had been bad until I met my current husband, and he too bought me flowers for the very first time. :) There's something to be said for the simplicity of getting beautiful flowers from someone you love.

theresacole(at)live(dot)comTheresahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03289906920836700435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3019911968480238618.post-71642147445594912672011-02-05T08:52:02.771-05:002011-02-05T08:52:02.771-05:00After three really bad marriages, my current husba...After three really bad marriages, my current husband, who is a knight in shining armor, brought me a dozen long-stemmed roses for Valentine's Day. I burst into tears. First time a man had _ever_ given me roses. Now, he gives me roses every chance he gets, and you know what? Each time is always as precious as the first.Faith Bicknellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08978240749619858463noreply@blogger.com
