Mini Vacation With Mum

Sometimes in life, you just get fed up with everything and have to check out and check in somewhere else for a little break. That's what I did a couple of days ago (May 12 & 13). I took mum with me and we went across the river to the casino riverboat and spent a couple of days eating, gambling, napping, gambling, eating, gambling, and sleeping. Or in mum speak aka code, we went bra shopping. lol.

I only wish I'd had a way to take a picture of her at the crap table. (You aren't allow to take pictures inside the casino gaming areas).

She's been feeling so lousy lately, truly feeling her years, and to see her pull herself up from her motorized wheelchair and lean over the table's cushioned edge and throw those dice—omg, you'd think she was closer to 65 than 85. Her face became so animated, so alive and happy, that I knew it was a special mother-daughter moment. Yes, in my family we often build special moments around gambling. lol.

I can attest that some of the happiest moments in my life were with my family at various sporting events or at casinos. Not sure what that says about me, but it is the truth. Anyway, mum did quite well with the dice (she loves craps) and even hit a very nice slot machine jackpot on the way out to dinner. I did okay, but had the misfortune to lose back over half of what I'd won, but feel fortunate to have at least come out a winner.

Off The Shelf Interview

I was interviewed this last Sunday in Second Life by Kghia Gherardi and Simeon Beresford hosts and producers of the radio/podcast show Off the Shelf. They interview authors, poets, publishers, editors, librarians, literary venue hosts, and other bookish people, both within Second Life and outside. It can be heard on Radio Riel and the podcasts can be downloaded from their website at: http://thebookstacks.org/off-the-shelf/ and from iTunes.

Lazy Bones

After being off my meds for the cancer scanning procedure for over a month, I find I am turning into true lazy bones. lol.  I look at the dishes piled up in the sink and just sorta sigh. I keep waiting for the dish faery to come and wave her wand, making the dishes squeaky fresh and sparkling clean, but it just ain’t happenin’ folks.

The laundry is also piling up and honestly, the carpet could use a decent shampoo. But my energy level is now zilch. I cannot wait for the dr. to give me the green light to go back on my meds and off this insane no salt/iodine diet. Ugh.  Have you or someone you love been recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer? Here's a useful link to have: http://www.thyca.org/

I hate having to ask anyone to drive me to the hospital for the next step in the testing, but I am so weak at this point, I can’t drive myself. Whew. And of course,  grizzly bear still lives here, so the situation is bizarre to say the least. I have to swallow my pride and ask the growly one if he’ll drive me. He said yes and didn’t bite.  I still have my hand intact, so I guess that’s a good sign. lol.

I really find that I miss going to the gym. How weird is that? A confirmed couch potato longing for low impact aerobics, aqua fitness class, and the rowing machine.

I figure I might as well enjoy the changes life is bringing me and go with the flow.  One of my old pals used to quote Bruce Lee, who would say, “Be water, my friend.”

Okay, I am ‘water’ and flowing over and around my obstacles, but I am getting very wet in the process.

Are you a lazy bones? Do you have days where you simply feel like the effort to get up and deal with life is beyond your capabilities—at least for that day? If so, then you understand what I mean.

Yet, if I go back to bed, hide under the covers, and allow chaos free reign, what would be the cost? I wonder about things like that. But I have to say, it’s much more enjoyable to wonder about it when I am snuggled in my comfy bed than sitting at a computer or attempting to clean my house. :P

Making Wish Bundles

I’m a big believer in sending wishes out into the universe to manifest what you want. Ask and receive, pretty much. So if it works, why don’t more people get their wishes to come true? I think that granting wishes is a complicated business. It involves certain things to come to pass in a certain order, plus involves other people who may not have our best interests at heart.

Wish Bundles

Here’s how to make a wish bundle of your very own:

1. Take a square piece of felt or cloth and lay it flat on a table.

2. Place a mustard seed in the center of the cloth.

3. Add a picture or pictures of what you want in the center with the mustard seed.

4. If what you want is an intangible thing, like happiness, use a picture of yourself when you were happy. If the wish is for more money, place a silver coin in the center of the cloth.

5. Gather the corners of the cloth together and tie with a string or cord, so that it makes a small bundle.

6. Dig a small hole in your backyard or in a potted container if you live in an apartment.

7. With heartfelt sincerity, say the following: I open my heart to the universe and ask my desires be fulfilled. Within the bundle, I place my wishes and ask the Goddess and God to bless and accept my offering. So be it and so it is.

Now bury the bundle in the hole and cover it with the remaining dirt. Allow several weeks for the universe to answer and watch and see the results. For some people it may take longer for the universe to rearrange your life in order to fulfill the request.

8. Document the changes in your life during this time and watch for any opportunities that come your way, because they may be the answers you seek!
