Saving Up Memories

Snowed in, and with my back still giving me fits from trying to lift an empty storage tub two weeks ago, I decided to stay home for my birthday. So yesterday morning and afternoon were spent on the phone with my family. Then last night, “Bear” gave me a lovely card that brought tears to my eyes (which of course I tried to hold back and not show), and for dinner we shared my favorite pizza he’d brought home, Tony BoomBozz, and the DVD of The Time Traveler’s Wife. I’d been wanting to see that since I read Audrey’s book.

Everything was so cozy and mellow. Fireplace lit and crackling, delicious food, and us watching a movie. No cake and ice cream, but I imagine I damaged the diet plenty with pizza.  It was all good…I could almost fool myself and think things were the way they used to be.

But they aren’t. And I need to stop fooling myself. However, I can save up that memory and store it as a happy one. Sometimes that’s all we can do. Store up and save bits and pieces of the good memories. I know there will come a day I will look back at last night with fondness…and without a touch of sadness.

Seahorse Races - Giddy Up!

Last Sunday, I raced at the new Sea Horse Race Track in Tokara, at Trilla’s and wow, I had a blast! I even won one of the heats, but these were race trials to prepare for the Oceania Derby coming up in two weeks. Woot!




I’m the pink haired mermaid in the middle of the picture, linging up at the starting gate waiting for the buzzer. :) My little white seahorse Nibbler was ready and rarin’ to go. :grins:


The picture above is of the stands where spectators can view the race. I had just run in a heat and was visiting with some of the mers who watched the race. I am in the foreground, (the mermaid pretty in pink–lol).

They also held small riding snail races, and two of my friends posed for this picture. Those were some fast snails, I tells ya. :)

A Transformative Year In The Making

2010 is the Year of the Tiger, but it is also my year to begin a long-overdue transformation.

Although I still have to get through the special cancer diet that accompanies my annual cancer screening, I have set forth on a path to wellness. My first order of business is to lose weight.

I started this plan of mine on 1/12/10 and have so far lost an astonishing 13 1/2 pounds! Yay me! I plan to incorporate more meditation too. Another part of my plan is to relearn the art of happiness. I think it involves sandy beaches and maybe a margarita or two, lol.

Snail Racing You Say...?

Oh yes indeedy, I have raced seahorses, equines, and now…snails! Escargot on the shell, lumbering at a—well—snail’s pace. lol. Talk about awkward and intense.
You have to *fly* over hurdles on an obstacle course and your view is obscured by antennae and the other racers. You bascially become the snail.

Sadly, I finished last. I think from now on I’ll stick with horses and seahorses, unless there
is some place in Second Life with Indy/Formula One cars or NASCAR. Sure be a lot safer in SL than in RL. Buckle me in ya’ll, I am ready to race. Vroom, vroom! lol.
